Summer is in full swing, and it has been HOT lately! When the weather gets unbearable, I can’t help but dream of spending time on the water! Whether I’m chilling on a swim beach, or paddling around on a SUP or kayak, I just love a good lake day! Here’s my list of the best lakes in and near Loveland!
Horsetooth Reservoir – Rent a SUP or bring your own! There are different coves and lots to explore. Horsetooth also has a swim beach, and, if you play your cards right, you can reserve a camping spot, and make it a lake weekend!
Carter Lake – Located in the south west foothills of Loveland, this feels like a real getaway, even though it’s close to town! Head there for camping, paddling, fishing, or to play on the swim beach!
Pinewood Reservoir – Near Carter Lake in the south west Loveland Foothills. It’s a no wake lake, so bring your kayak and SUP, and maybe your rod and reel as well!
Lon Hagler Reservoir – If you love to fish, this is your spot. Wakeless boating only, so bring your fishing kayak, and enjoy a day dropping your line in the water!
Boyd Lake – A great place to take kids. There’s a swim beach, SUP and kayak rentals, a playground, and concessions. You could easily spend an entire day here!
Boedecker Reservoir – You’ll need your own SUP for this one. No wakes aloud, so it’s great for first timer.
Swim Beach at Lake Loveland – Lake Loveland is a private lake, so you’ll need to be a resident to boat here. But check out the public swim beach to have a place to splash on a hot summer day!
