Going to a museum is such a great way to spend an afternoon. You can learn something new, it’s generally a low-cost activity, and it can be fun for the whole family! We have a great local gem of a museum here in Loveland. But there are also a few other museums throughout Northern Colorado I wanted to share. Here’s my list of the top 4 museums in Loveland and Northern Colorado.
Loveland Museum Gallery
The Loveland Museum Gallery does a great job preserving Loveland’s history. Plus, they bring in exciting galleries from past and working artists, too. For a small town, we’ve get some big names! Children enjoy the interactive BINGO with items to find throughout all the galleries. And, you can learn about the history of sugarbeet farming, the origins of the Sweetheart City, and view a massive topographic map of the Rockies to learn how we get our water here on the Front Range.
Museum of Art Fort Collins
Located in Old Town Fort Collins, the Museum of Art is housed in the old Post Office building. And, everyone knows and loves Blue Agave, the Mexican restaurant underneath the museum. This museum hosts various traveling exhibits, including exhibits from some well-known names and many local artists. Their goal is to make art fun and accessible to all, so you can expect to find all sorts of exhibits there.
Fort Collins Museum of Discovery
The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is ideal for families or anyone with an inquisitive mind! There are many interactive exhibits involving instruments and music and lots of hands-on activities for littles. Plus, you can take in some of the fascinating and heart-breaking accounts from the High Park Fire. Also, kids and adults alike love the OtterBox Digital Dome Theater. This 360-degree theater provides immersive experiences on topics like space exploration, flight, dinosaurs, and more.
Windsor Severance Fire Rescue
The Windsor Severance Fire Museum is a lesser-known NoCo museum but worth a visit if you have little ones! In fact, if you have littles who are into fire trucks, they will go crazy for this historical collection of fire trucks and fire equipment from the beginning days of the Windsor Severance Fire Department. The board and interested firefighters are constantly working to restore old equipment, including the recent restoration of a 24-foot wooden extension ladder!
