The Sweetheart City is known for a handful of things—our name (the city of love!), a prolific artist community, and craft distilleries and breweries, to name a few. But one thing we often overlook in our beautiful city are the golf courses! So, here’s a shout out to the Loveland’s best golf courses. They are peaceful oases in town that provide hours of entertainment for colleagues, friends, and family alike.
Mariana Butte Golf Course
Mariana Butte is a beautiful golf course in Loveland, nestled against the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It’s often chosen as the best golf course in Northern Colorado and is even a destination golf course for out-of-towners. Mariana Butte is a public golf course with 18 holes, a driving range, full-service pro shop, and the beloved Wapiti Pub. The Big Thompson River meanders through the course, and several of the holes wrap around the course’s namesake, Mariana Butte. It’s a challenging course with beautiful views. As far as Loveland golf courses go, Mariana Butte can’t be beat.
The Olde Course of Loveland
Centrally located in the city, The Olde Course of Loveland is the most-played 18 holes in town. Its affectionate name comes from its long history in Loveland (it used to be called the Loveland Municipal Golf Course). The Olde Course was built in 1960 after golf enthusiasts petitioned the city, tired of driving to Fort Collins or Greeley for a round of golf. Since then, it’s always been a well-manicured, challenging, and fun course. There are six ponds throughout, and the Signature Hole (hole #14) features an island green.
Cattail Creek Golf Course
Cattail Creek Golf Course is the perfect golf course in Loveland for beginners. It’s only a 9-hole par 3 course, and it’s right across the street from the Olde Course. It’s a great place to work on your short game and ideal for families. Cattail also features the Mini-Course, also known as the SNAG course. SNAG stands for “Starting New at Golf,” and the SNAG course is designed to teach beginners of all ages how to play golf. Participants only use two unique clubs to learn how to launch, pitch, chip, and put the ball.
That’s it for Loveland’s best golf courses! So whether you’re looking for a scenic, challenging experience like Mariana Butte, a family-friendly outing like Cattail, or something in between at the Olde Course, Loveland has a golf course for you. And the best part is, all the courses are public so they are accessible to all.
