All of us parents and caregivers might be going a little bit (okay, maybe a lot bit) insane with closures and wondering what to do with our kids. And of course, people have different levels of what they’re comfortable with depending on their risk level, people in their lives with a higher risk for COVID, etc. So, we wanted to share with you some of our favorite activities for kids in Loveland, for the folks who aren’t leaving home and those that choose to be out and about.
Paint Pottery with Artisan You
Many Lovelanders with kiddos have fond memories of painting pottery at Artisan You, a paint-your-own-pottery studio downtown. Well, thankfully, this adorable studio has pivoted to offer at-home experiences that are just as wonderful. Artisan You even offers Zoom classes where you can follow along and paint a particular project.
Climb at Wooden Mountain
If you’re kids are literally climbing up the walls, Wooden Mountain Bouldering Gym is a must! They have climbing routes for all ages, as well as a few auto-belay options. The gym is open exclusively for kids on Friday mornings from 10-12. They also offer day camp options for kiddos.
Splash Pads!
If you’re comfortable with it, Loveland’s many splash pads are a great way to let the kids blow off some steam and beat the heat, at least for a few more weeks. Fairground Park has a pretty epic splash park, complete with massive sandboxes, and river access. Loveland Sports Park and Mehaffey Park also both have water features. Plus, the Foundry has a splash pad, although it hasn’t been working lately. You may want to do a driveby before you head over there suited up.
Ride the Buckhorn Northern Railroad
This staple of summer and North Lake Park is open, and they’re taking lots of precautions to make sure the train is sanitized frequently. If you have littles, they will LOVE riding the Buckhorn Northern Railroad. It’s still just $1 per passenger and is open through Labor Day from 1 pm-7 pm.
Go to Urban Air
A day at Urban Air is definitely for those who don’t mind being in public spaces, but Urban Air is working hard to stay compliant with all local regulations and go above and beyond to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy. They have a dedicated cleaning team and allow limited numbers of participants on each attraction. Go-karts, a ropes course, ninja warrior-like courses, and more, are all attractions your kids will love!
We hope this helps give you some ideas of things to do with your kids, whether you want to stay in your own circle or venture to some of the bigger attractions in Loveland. Let us know what your favorite activities are for kids in NoCo too!
